HARLAN COUNTY LAKE is famous for its Fishing!
The second largest lake in Nebraska offers
60 miles of shoreline, is 7.6 miles long
and 1.7 miles wide offering 12,000 acres
of water surface. During years of heavy
rainfall, it swells to 13,250 acres of
water surface with 75 miles of shoreline!
Harlan is well-known to have some of the
best fishing in the state of Nebraska!
And this year the fishing is expected
to be excellent!
WALLEYE, WIPERS, WHITE BASS, CHANNEL
CATFISH, and NORTHERN PIKE are
favorites of anglers and account for a
large percentage of the fish caught in
the lake and the outlet area below the
dam. Other game fish present in lesser
number include
LARGEMOUTH BASS, CRAPPIE, and
BLUEGILL.
